Archivally photocopied clippings compiled at the Camera (undated) about a significant group of eight Boulder County (Colo.) pioneers. Also, an eight-page talk given by Augusta Hauck Block in 1939 about Robert Hauck, S. J. Plumb, Theodore J. Squires, A. J. Macky, Hiram Buck, Thalma F. Godding, Dennis Dailey, and John Jay (the men who organized the Wisconsin Gold Mining Company in 1858). The group formed the Union District on December 15, 1860. Bound by St. Vrain and Left Hand Creek on the north, John Corbin's land claim on the east, the Kansas and Nebraska Base-line on the south, and James Barker's land claim on the west.

Walter Leland Hopkins was born in Marysville, Ohio in 1898. He attended the Oberlin Academy in 1912-13 and 1915-16. In June 1917, he enlisted in the United States Army Ambulance Service, joining the Princeton University unit, Section 523. The unit served with the French Armed Forces in the 35th Division, and saw extensive action. Hopkins worked for Tiffany Studios in New York following his military service. He died in 1930, the cause of death attributed to the effects of a gassing. F...
